I have a crazy question We are working to implement D365 for Finance and SCM. We are being told by our implementor that task recordings are going away shortly. Is this true or did I miss something on this?

Can someone please advise?

thanks so much

I feel this(rumor) is happening because of the recent Microsoft's open/public Tech Talk on the subject of automated testing, where Microsoft showcased Leapwork (which is not a Microsoft-owned tool), and people got the impression that Microsoft is going to acquire Leapwork and ditch RSAT with the Task Recorder.

However, as mentioned by others, the Task Recorder has multiple uses.

By the way, the Task Recorder is not the best tool in the world. Organizations are going for tools that can work across multiple apps and platforms. If I open any random website (not Dynamics 365 F&O), the Task Recorder would not work on it. There are tools in the market that are more popular than the Task Recorder.

The good thing about the Task Recorder is that it is free and works for F&O.

    Hi Kate,

I wonder what source your implementation partner has for this statement. This rumor is absolutely not true. The task recordings are supported for the creation of user documentation, reproduction scenarios, regression testing, and, since this year, also for creating security roles using the User Security Governance features.
There is no indication and no announcements, as mentioned by Neeraj.

    Hi @KateG,

Actually, that's a valid question. As Neeraj writes, there is no public confirmation about deprecating this. But this does not necessarily mean one or the other. Perhaps your implementor can provide the source of their information / claim?

    Hi @KateG,

There is no such official announcement from Microsoft.
Generally if there is such case, they would have updated in the Task recorder document as well.

Also, verified from Depreciated features page, there is nothing mentioned regarding Task recorder:
